John Felton (assassin)

John Felton (* 1595, † October 28, 1628 at Tyburn ) was an English Puritan and former officer in the British Navy, of Portsmouth Duke of Buckingham, the leading ministers of the government of King Charles I. murdered in 1628. Was about the reasons for the assassination, and speculation: Religious zeal or personal insults in the defeat against La Rochelle 1627/28 are mentioned as the most common motif. Felton was sentenced later that year to death and hanged on October 28, 1628 at Tyburn.
