John Francis Wade

John Francis Wade (* 1711 in England or Douai, France, † August 16 1786 in Douai ) was an English composer. He became famous mainly due to the composition of the carol Adeste Fideles.

After the suppression of the second Jacobitenaufstandes the devout Catholic Wade lived with other English exiles in Douai, where he worked as a music teacher, among others, and died 1786.
