John Harwood (watchmaker)

John Harwood (* 1893, † 1965) was a British inventor and watchmaker.

In 1923 he built the first automatic watch ( as a wristwatch with pendulum flywheel ). On October 16, 1923, he applied for in Switzerland for a patent on his invention. On September 1, 1924 it has issued to the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property in Bern the patent number 106583rd The watches were manufactured both in collaboration with Fortis as well as with Blancpain in 1926 in series.
