Fortis Uhren

The Fortis Uhren AG, headquartered in Grenchen is a Swiss watch manufacturer.

The company was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt ( 1883-1957 ) in Grenchen. It is one of the few manufacturers that consistently produce watches since its foundation.

Through a collaboration with the English inventor and watchmaker John Harwood Fortis In 1926, the first self-winding wristwatch ( Automatic ) in series production ( Harwood Automatic ). 1937 followed by the first chronograph.

Long before the era of quartz and cheap watches Fortis launched 1969, the first watch made ​​of plastic, the model Flipper ( initially under the name Eloga sold ).
