John Henry Dolph

John Henry Dolph (* 1835 in Fort Ann, New York, † 1903) was an American painter, who mainly known for his depictions of animals, especially cats, is in the art trade.

Life

1855 Dolph studied in Cleveland Allen Smith portraiture. In 1863 he moved to New York City. Since he could until then sell his works poorly, he moved to learn animal painting by Antwerp to Jean Louis van Kuyck. In Paris he lived from 1868 to 1873.
