John Henry Twachtman

John Henry Twachtman (* August 4, 1853 in Cincinnati, † August 8, 1902 in Gloucester, Massachusetts ) was an American painter and etcher of Impressionism, particularly landscapes.

He received his first lessons from Frank Duveneck. He studied from 1875 at the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and Paris ( Académie Julian from 1883 to 1885 ). Twachtman was a member of the Ten American Painters. In 1886 he returned to the United States.
