Life

Johann was the son of Simon of Saarbrücken- COMMERCY († 1325 ), and Margaret of Savoy, a daughter of Louis I. Lord of Vaud. After the death of his grandfather, Count Johann I, the property was divided. Johann was the county Saarbrücken, as well as a small amount of COMMERCY. In 1362 he fought against mercenary bands and fell in Lyon again briefly in captivity. In the service of the French crown, he undertook several diplomatic missions in 1362 to the court of Emperor Charles IV and in the following years several times at the English court. For his services he was appointed in 1364 to the Grand Bouteillier, 1371 he was given dominion Vaucouleurs.

John retired in 1380 from the French court back and died in the following year. The county of Saarbrücken inherited Johanns daughter Johanna, but still died the same year.
