John J. Wood

John Jacob Wood ( born February 16, 1784 in Clarkstown (now New City ), New York, † May 20, 1874 ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1827 and 1829 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Jacob Wood was 1809-1812 as town clerk (town clerk ) in Clarkstown operates. Then he went in 1815 and 1823 and employed than school inspector. Politically, he was a member of the Jacksonian Group. In the congressional elections of 1826 Wood was in the second electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joshua Sands March 4, 1827. Since he resigned in 1828 to run again, he retired after March 3, from 1829, from the Congress. After that he went 1829-1831 and 1835 and again in 1837 working as a school inspector after. In 1837 he worked as guardianship and estate Richter ( surrogate ) of Rockland County. He had his last political appearance in 1846 as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of New York. He died on 20 May 1874 in New City and was then buried in the Old Burying Ground Wood.
