John Lee, Baron Lee of Trafford

John Robert Louis Lee, Baron Lee of Trafford ( born June 21, 1942) is a British Liberal Democrat politician.

He was in the legislature 1979-83 Conservative Member of Parliament in the House of Commons for the electoral district of Nelson and Colne and from 1983 to 1992 in the constituency of Pendle, until he lost the seat to the opposition candidate of Labour Gordon Prentice. Lee was from 1983 to 1986 Junior Minister in the Office of Defense Technology and Procurement ( Defence Procurement Agency ), from 1986 to 1989 and Minister of Labour from 1987 to 1989 Minister of Tourism.

In 2001 he left the Conservatives and joined the Liberal Democrats. He was raised as Baron Lee of Trafford for Life Peer.

He was from 2007 to 2010 Whip for the Liberal Democrats but resigned in protest down as the bill to reform the House of Lords in the speech from the throne was announced.
