John Lloyd (producer)

John Hardress Wilfred Lloyd CBE ( born September 30, 1951 in Dover ) is a British author, radio and television producer.

Career

Collaboration with Douglas Adams

Lloyd studied at Cambridge University, where he became friends with Douglas Adams. Both later shared an apartment. Together they wrote two episodes of the animated television series Doctor Snuggles, the fifth and sixth episode of the radio drama The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as well as two books, The Meaning of Labenz and the deeper meaning of Labenz. Lloyd and Adams had together developed a science- fiction film project, which should be based on the Guinness Book of World Records; by the death of Adams 2001, it was never realized.

Radio and television producer

Lloyd worked 1974-1978 as a producer at the BBC Radio, and was then employed as a television producer for both the BBC and ITV. There, he produced, among others, the satire series Spitting Image and Blackadder by and starring Rowan Atkinson. He was co- producer of the TV adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and produced since 2003, the QI Quite Interesting Series with Stephen Fry and Alan Davies.
