John Lytton, 5th Earl of Lytton

John Peter Michael Scawen Lytton, 5th Earl of Lytton (born 7 June 1950), 1951-1985 as Viscount Knebworth, is a British politician and real estate experts.

Life and career

John Lytton is the eldest son of Noel Lytton, 4th Earl of Lytton and Clarissa Mary Palmer, and thus a descendant of Lord Byron. After attending Downside School in Bath, he studied at the University of Reading, graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from building. After graduation, he worked for 13 years for the UK tax authority ( Inland Revenue ) and a few more years for the real estate company Permutt Brown & Co. and Cubitt & West. In January 1988, he founded his own company, the Lytton & Co., Chartered Surveyors, which he heads today. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors ( a professional trade association for real estate agents ) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators ( a professional body for arbitrators and mediators). John Lytton gives talks about his famous ancestor Lord Byron and is co-chairman of the International Byron Society

He inherited his father's title ( Earl of Lytton, Bulwer Baronet, Baron Lytton of Knebworth, Lord Wentworth ) in 1985. His seat in the House of Lords he lost first by the House of Lords Act 1999, but was in 2011 as an elected member there return. It belongs to the house today as an independent candidate, the so-called Cross Bencher at. In October 2011 he was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of West Sussex.

Family

John Lytton married in 1980 Ursula Komoly Alexandra, daughter of Anton Theodore Komoly. Together they have three children:

  • Katrina Mary Noel Lytton

1984 Lytton inherited the estate Newbuildings Place in West Sussex by his aunt, where he lives with his family today. The family seat of Lytton, Knebworth House in Hertfordshire is run by his cousin.
