John McHardy Sinclair

John McHardy Sinclair ( born June 14, 1933, Scotland, † 13 March 2007) was a Scottish linguist ( linguist ).

Life

In 1980, the publishing house HarperCollins with the University of Birmingham founded the project Collins Birmingham University International Language Database ( COBUILD ), Sinclair was their most important employees.

After his retirement Sinclair went to Italy, where he founded together with his wife Elena Bonelli Tognini - the Tuscan Word Centre.
