John McLaughlin (politician)

John McLaughlin ( born January 8, 1849 Cornwall Township, Ontario, † June 4, 1911 in Avonmore, Ontario ) was a Canadian politician of the Conservative Party of Ontario.

John McLaughlin was the son of Irish immigrants from County Antrim. After he was in Cornwall Township, today's South Stormont, grew up, he moved to Avonmore in Roxborough Township. There he worked as a farmer and in the timber industry. On June 28, 1872, he married Jennett Runions.

Between 1885 and 1886, McLaughlin served as Deputy Reeve of the Township of Roxborough; He also had several years the chair of the local Liberal - Conservative Association held. On 1 March 1898, he moved as a representative of the Conservatives for the electoral district of Stormont in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, after he had previously prevailed in the elections against A. F. Mulhern of the Liberal Party. He was a member of the provincial parliament until April 19, 1902; then he retired from politics.
