John McNaughton

John McNaughton ( born January 13, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American film director.

Career

His debut as a director was John McNaughton in 1984 with the documentary Dealers in Death. Two years later, he turned to Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer his first feature film. This is a low-budget film, which was filmed within 28 days, but the film was taken only three years after its completion in the cinemas. This was followed by several films as well as from time to time commitment for television. He directed several episodes of the crime series Homicide. His most known film is Wild Things from the year 1998.

He used the pseudonym Alan Smithee for its 1997 television film Firehouse.

Awards (selection)

For his feature film debut, he was honored at the Fanta Porto in 1991 with the International Fantasy Film Award in the Best Screenplay and Best Film.
