John Phillips (geologist)

John Phillips ( born December 25, 1800 Marden, Wiltshire, † April 24, 1874 ) was an English geologist.

In 1834 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society. In 1845 he was awarded the Wollaston Medal of the Geological Society of London.

The lunar crater Phillips and the Phillips Martian Craters are named after him.
