John Stone (producer)

Johnstone, actually Saul storm water ( born September 12, 1888 in New York City, New York, † June 3, 1961 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American film producer and screenwriter.

Life

Johnstone studied at New York University and then worked for 20th Century Fox as a screenwriter. Between 1922 and 1928 he wrote the screenplay for eleven Tom Mix westerns. In addition he adapted two novels by Zane Grey for the screen, The Assassin of Nevada with Gary Cooper and William Powell in the lead roles, and at the last minute. In 1930 he was at Fox production manager, a year later Assistant to the Vice President Fox. Between 1934 and 1946 he was responsible as a film producer for 14 Movies of Charlie Chan film series. He also produced two Mr. Moto movies with Peter Lorre.

Johnstone was married twice. He was the father of screenwriter Peter Stone.
