John Thaw

John Edward Thaw ( born January 3, 1942 in Manchester, Greater Manchester, † 21 February 2002 in Luckington, Wiltshire ) was a British actor.

Life

After studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art ( RADA ) was his first role of Sergeant John Mann in the television series Redcap. He then starred in the series The foxes a policeman what was to be repeated in Inspector Morse, Homicide Oxford between 1987 and 2000.

The director Richard Attenborough occupied Thaw in two of his films: Cry Freedom (1987) and Chaplin (1992).

From 1964 to 1968 he was married to Sally Alexander, after the divorce followed in 1973 up to Thaw's death, the second marriage with Sheila Hancock. From two marriages comes ever a child.
