Johnny Duncan (country singer)

Johnny Duncan ( born October 5, 1938 in Dublin, Texas as Richard John Duncan, † August 14, 2006 in Fort Worth) was an American country music singer and a cousin of musician Dan Seals.

Life

Duncan was born in Dublin, Texas. Before he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, he attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He then spent several years, from 1959 to 1964, in Clovis, New Mexico.

In Franklin, Tennessee, he worked as a DJ and had its own breakfast show on a local television station. In the 1960s, he had his first recording contract with Columbia Records. Between 1967 and 1970, it did not manage his albums in the Top 20 of the charts. The single Sweet Country Woman reached number six in 1973. Between 1973 and 1979 reach Duncan ten top 10 hits, including Thinkin ' Of A Rendezvous, It Could Have Been Any Better and She Can Put Her Shoes Under My Bed ( Anytime), which occupied the top spot on the country charts. In 1977 Duncan with his duet Come A Little Bit Closer with Janie Fricke a hit.

Duncan last lived with his wife and five children in Fort Worth, where he died on 14 August 2006, at the age of 67 years, after a heart attack.
