Johnny Jordaan

Johnny (John Hendricus van Musscher ) Jordaan ( born February 7, 1924 in Amsterdam, † January 8, 1989 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch singer. He sang the typical Amsterdam version of the sentimental life with song and an Amsterdam accent.

Jordaan was born in a working class family. After a fight he lost as a boy of nine one eye. He was, inter alia, singing waiter and cafe owners. Several times could only his relatives and friends, including Willy Alberti, whose cousin he was saving him from bankruptcy. He died in Amsterdam of a cerebral hemorrhage on January 8, 1989. According to him, the Johnny Jordaan Plein was called in the Elandsgracht in the Amsterdam Jordaan area. Compared with the Plein is the Houseboat Museum.
