JohnstraÃŸe (Vienna U-Bahn)

The Station John Street is a multi-level, underground station of the Vienna U -Bahn line U3 in the 15th district of Vienna Rudolf -Fuenfhaus. It is named after the 1894 or 1912, named after the Austrian military Francis Xavier by John ( 1815-1876 ) John Street.

Station

The building was handed over on September 3, 1994 during the opening of the third portion of the U3 its determination. Until December 5, 1998 here was the temporary western Endstadtion the U3.

The station is located 21 meters below the level of Meisel Street between John Street and the alley Kroell. It has a central platform, ten escalators and four barrier-free access by lift. Outputs lead towards Meisel market, the Vienna Water World ( a pedestrian walkway with fountains ), the Hütteldorferstraße and in the Meiselstraße. It is possible to take tram 49 in direction Hütteldorf or ring and bus routes 10A toward Niederhofstraße or Heiligenstadt and 12A switch over towards Längenfeldgasse or Gablenzgasse. Near the station is located ( with direct access ) that in an old water tank housed the market and shopping center Meisel market, the marine life on the Cardinal Rauscher Square, the shopping street Hütteldorferstraße and in December 2007 in the John Street after extensive public debate opened, popularly known as " Punkerhaus " called " House John street for young adults," the city of Vienna.

Configuration

In the mezzanine of the station is located since April 2010 Shutter " transmission " of the print graphic designer Michael Schneider, consisting of 43 black and white images. The artist used as template digital photographs showing the roof lines of houses along the line U3. The graphics were partly in conventional low- pressure technique and partly as a timber pressure. The images were digitized, exposed on screens, printed with enamel paint on metal sheets and then baked at 800 degrees.
