Jón Gnarr

Jón Gnarr ( born January 2, 1967 in Reykjavík Jón Gunnar Kristinsson as ) is an Icelandic comedian, musician, writer and politician. Since June 2010 he has been mayor of Reykjavík, Iceland's capital.

Life

Jón Gnarr was born in 1967 in Reykjavík, the son of a police officer, left school at the age of 14 and attended for two years a boarding school for maladjusted adolescents. After a series of odd jobs, he worked as a nurse in a home for mentally and physically handicapped. At age 19, he wrote the novel Miðnætursólborgin ( "The City of the Midnight Sun " ), and was 20 years old father.
