Jon " Bones" Jones

Jonathan D. Jones ( born July 19, 1987 in Rochester, New York ), called Jon " Bones" Jones, is an American mixed martial arts fighter from Endicott and current title holder of the Light- Heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship ( UFC). Jones is a solid training in wrestling, Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai resort and is currently training at Jackson 's Submission Fighting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In 2007, Jones began his MMA career in Team Bomb Quad in Cortland, New York. Already in 2008, he signed with a fight record of six wins and zero defeats a contract for four fights with the UFC, making him, the youngest fighter of the association. He made his UFC debut in August with a points victory over Andre Gusmao. In January 2009, he defeated Stephan Bonnar also on points. At UFC 100 in July he defeated Jake O'Brien with a guillotine choke in the second round. Because unauthorized elbow blows he was then disqualified against Matt Hamill in the final event of The Ultimate Fighter 10. His next fights, against Brandon Vera in March 2010 and Vladimir Matyushenko in August, he won both by TKO in the first round. After Ryan Bader defeated him in February 2011 by a guillotine choke, a title fight against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua was scheduled for 19 March 2011. Jones dominated the fight away from the start and won by TKO in the third round. Thus he became the youngest UFC titleholder. On 24 September 2011, he had his first title defense against Rampage Jackson, whom he defeated in the fourth round by task. His next opponent, Lyoto Machida, he defeated 10 December 2011 also by task, this time in round 2, and so defended his title for the second time. 21 May 2012 was followed by his next title defense against Rashad Evans. Between the two former training partners, it came before the fight on various verbal attacks. Jones won the fight on points. His next title defense was set for 1 September 2012 compared Dan Henderson. This fight, however, was canceled due to an injury Hendersons, as the entire event. On September 22, 2012, he defended his title against Brazilian Vitor Belfort by task in the 4th round. In April 2013 he was able to defeat Chael Sonnen in the first round and placed so that the record for the most Titelverteiligungen in the Light- heavyweight Tito Ortiz one. On September 21, 2013 he defeated the Swedes Alexander Gustafsson and thus placed the record for most title defenses on in his weight class.
