Jonas Alber

Jonas Alber (* 1969 in Offenburg ) is a German conductor.

Life and career

Alber studied violin and conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and then at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 1995 he was awarded a scholarship by the Herbert von Karajan Foundation. 1998 Jonas Alber was appointed General Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Staatstheater Braunschweig, at this time of Germany's youngest conductor in this post which he held until the end of the season 2006 /2007. The focus of his work in the opera are the classical-romantic repertoire from Mozart to Puccini and Richard Strauss. In addition, he led the new production and resumption of the Ring of the Nibelung and premieres of works such as The Dead City, Mona Lisa, lowland and Vec Makropulos. Alber conducted the German premieres of operas Philippe Boesman's dance, The Winter's Tale and Julie, as well as Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito with newly composed recitative texts by Manfred Trojahn in the Mozart year 2006 and the world premiere of Siegfried Matthus ' Cosima Opera in April 2007.

As a guest conductor Jonas Alber initiated at the Frankfurt Opera Schreker The treasure hunter and the resumption of Peter Grimes. With a Rehearsal of Iphigenia in Aulis cooperation with the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg, which he continued with Norma, Nabucco and Der Freischütz began. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, he debuted with Carmina Burana, at the Vienna Volksoper with Franz Schmidt's Notre Dame. Other operatic engagements have taken him to a world premiere by Mats Larsson Gothes opera Poet & Prophetess at the Norrland operand, to the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires ( debut in September 2009 with the Abduction from the Seraglio) and at the Dresden State Opera ( debut in spring 2010, resumption of Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung ). New production of Fidelio, Staatstheater Braunschweig ( premiered in May 2010), Teatro Real Madrid, Der Rosenkavalier, ideas and Cover (December 2010), South African State Theatre, Pretoria ( world premiere), Winnie The Opera, based on the life of Winnie Mandela ( April / May 2011), Hamburg State Opera, The Magic Flute, season 2011 /2012.

As a guest conductor Alber conducted renowned orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra, the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig, Dresden Philharmonic, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Lower Austrian Musicians Orchestra Vienna, the Symphony Orchestra St. Gallen. In 2006, Jonas Alber debuted at the Hague Philharmonic Orchestra The Hague at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and was re-invitations for the next season. He also was a guest conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Flemish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Lille at TACTUS festival in Mons. His debut in China took place in 2009 at the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, his Japan debut with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra.
