Jonathan Beller

Jonathan L. Beller is an American professor and media scholar.

Life

Beller graduated in 1985 at Columbia University in New York City, the technical English with a Bachelor of Arts (BA ) from and then studied in the years 1986-1987 on to the University of Texas in Austin, Texas as part of a graduate program. He received his degree as Master of Arts ( MA) he made in 1988 at Columbia University. His doctorate in 1994 at Duke University in the literature. His doctoral thesis was: The Cinematic Mode of Production. 1998/1999 he went to Manila in the Philippines, where he taught at the local University of the Philippines and the Ateneo de Manila University Jesuit university in Quezon City cultural studies and film theory, supported by a Fulbrightstipendium for teaching and research.

Beller was a visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz and San Francisco State University. Since 2004 he teaches at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and is there since 2012, the program director of the graduate program for media studies.
