Life and work

Bragdon studied, among others, in Strasbourg and Lausanne. After working as an art teacher in Belmont, 1975, he made his bachelor in " Philosophy of Art and studio art " at the University of Massachusetts.

His works embody a balance, which is also expressed by their simultaneity of representation and abstraction. Both on the production, as well as on the reception level is clearly this essential feature of Jonathan Bragdon art. " While the drawings in which a moment as detailed reproduction of each leaf, straw and stone appear, they dissolve in next to an abstract line network on " Dr. Dorothée Brill ( Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin) explains this phenomenon. The viewer is not assigned a fixed location. Rather, he is involved in a vibrant and exciting dialogue with the work. With their wide range of graphic resources such as graphite, water color, watercolor or ink drawings are especially fascinating plants with an almost meditative, strong emotional effect.
