Jordan (Bishop of Poland)

Jordanes, also called Jordan († 984 ), was the first bishop of Poland. He was appointed to 968 in the office of a bishop mission to Poznan. As a missionary bishop, he was directly subordinate to the Pope in Rome. He came 966 with the Bohemian princess Dubrawka either from Italy or from the Rhineland to Poland, to baptize the pagan Mieszko I, polanischen Knjas and later Duke of Poland.
