Jörg Fiedler

Jörg Fiedler ( born February 21, 1978 in Leipzig ) is a German fencer who is one with his sword to the world class. He is a two -time German champion individual.

His international career began in 1996, when he was Junior European Champion in the individual standings. In 1999, he took the team bronze at the European Championships and Siber at the World Championships. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Fiedler came in fifth with the German team. In 2001, he won the team silver at the European Championships in 2003 he received the team silver medal at the World Championships.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens Sven Schmid, Daniel Striegel and Jörg Fiedler succeeded in winning the bronze medal, and thus the only medal win for German fencer since the team gold in 1992. 2005 occupied the three fencers together with Martin Schmitt once again took second place at the World Championships.

In 2010 he won with the team from Christoph Kneip, Steffen Launer and Martin Schmitt bronze at the European Championships in Leipzig. 2011 Fiedler became European Champion.

In 2012, he won the European Championship in Legnano bronze in the epee individual, at the Olympic Games in London occupied Fiedler in single eighth. At the European Championships in Zagreb in 2013 he was European champion again.

Fiedler has become since his first success in 2001 several times German champion, last winning in 2013 with the team.

Jörg Fiedler learned the craft while fencing Fencing Club Leipzig, changed in the 90 years to the fencing club Tauberbischofsheim. In December 2010 he returned to his home club, the fencing club Leipzig, back.
