Jörg Leichtfried

Jörg Leichtfried ( born June 18, 1967 in Bruck an der Mur) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ) and since the 6th Term Member of the European Parliament.

Education and professional career

Jörg Leichtfried studied from 1987 to 1994 Law at the University of Graz. After graduating there he graduated from 1994 to 1995 year of court and Konzipiententätigkeit. He was subsequently 1995-1999 Legal Secretary at the Labour Styria and from 1998-2004 Head of Department Civil Service in the administration of his hometown, the city of Bruck an der Mur.

Political career

From 1994 Easy Fried was deputy chairman of the Young Generation Styria, a youth organization of the Social Democratic Party. This office he held until 2000. 1999 he was a National Candidate of the Young Generation Styria. From 2000 to 2002 Easy Fried was the Young Generation of Austria National Chairman. He is also Styria since 2000 deputy national chairman of the SPÖ.

Key activities in the European Parliament

Easy Fried's election as Members of the European Parliament took place for the first time in 2004. His re-election was held in 2009 instead, since he is also head of the delegation of the Social Democratic Party in the European Parliament since 2009 and Vice President of the Animal Welfare - Intergroup.

Easy Fried is a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism, the Subcommittee on Human Rights, the Delegation for relations with India. In addition, he has worked as a deputy member of the Committee on International Trade, the Delegation to the Cariforum -EU Parliamentary Committee, the Delegation for relations with Canada.
