Jörg Schmeisser

Jörg Schmeisser (prop bouncer ) ( born April 20, 1942 in Stolp, † June 1, 2012 in Canberra ) was a German artist who was best known as a graphic artist.

Life

Jörg Schmeisser grew up in Hamburg and studied there and in Kyoto from 1962 to 1968. 1966 he passed the exam and became an art teacher assistant at Paul Wunderlich. From 1972 to 1978 he was a lecturer in screen printing in Hamburg; in the 1960s and 1970s, he was also involved in excavations in Israel and Greece and visited numerous countries. Between 1978 and 1997 he worked at the Canberra School of Art, part of the Australian National University. Jörg Schmeisser headed the Department of Printmaking. In 1998 he traveled to Antarctica and held on to the Australian research stations Mawson and Davis. Especially his incurred on this trip etchings, drawings and paintings have been shown in numerous exhibitions in Australia, Japan, the U.S. and Germany. After teaching and work orders in Jerusalem, Hangzhou, Angkor, Ladakh and Princeton Jörg Schmeisser was appointed to a professorship at the Kyoto City University of Arts. He was married to the artist Keiko Amenomori Schmeisser.
