Jorge Antunes (composer)

Jorge Antunes ( born April 23, 1942 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian composer of contemporary music.

At the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Antunes studied violin, composition and conducting.

He was the first contemporary Brazilian musician who consistently began the possibilities of electronic music from 1961. This music was called Música Cromofônica. Since 1973 he is professor at the Universidade de Brasília. On October 14, 2006 his opera " Olga " was first performed at the Theatro Municipal in São Paulo. With a libretto by Gerson Valle opera shows the life of Olga Benario - Prestes.
