Jorge Eduardo Lozano

Jorge Eduardo Lozano ( born February 10, 1955 in Buenos Aires ) is Bishop of Gualeguaychú.

Life

Jorge Eduardo Lozano attended the Escuela Industrial de la Nación "Otto Krausse " (today: Escuela de Educación Técnica Otto Krause N ° 1 ) and graduated in 1973 with a degree in electrical engineering training from. In addition, he studied engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional ( UTN ). At the age of 22, he entered the diocesan seminary of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires and studied philosophy and theology. At the Universidad Católica Argentina Santa María de los Buenos Aires ( UCA), he completed his theological studies and received on December 3, 1982 by the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Juan Carlos Cardinal Aramburu, at the Estadio Obras Sanitarias in Buenos Aires to the priesthood. After his ordination he continued his education by studying pastoral theology at the Theological Faculty of the UCA and pastoral developments of the Episcopal Conference of Argentina. He attended courses at Teologico Pastoral para América Latina del CELAM ( ITEPAL ) Instituto in Bogotá (1997) and Pastoral de Conjunto on Planificación in Córdoba ( 1991).

Lozano was parochial vicar in San Ignacio de Loyola (1983-1985) and Nuestra Señora de Balvanera (1985-1988) and pastor of Our Lady of the Annunciation. From 1983 to 1987 he was a board member of Catholic Action of Buenos Aires. He was Vice President of the Episcopal Commission for Education in the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires (1990/ 92), director of the Episcopal Pastoral, Secretary of the Pastoral Council of the Archdiocese, Coordinator of Pastoral Planning, Delegate for the Jubilee of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires and was since 1996 in the Priests.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 4 January 2000 as Titular Bishop of Furnos Maior and the auxiliary bishop of Buenos Aires. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio SJ, on 25 March 2000; Co-consecrators were Raúl Omar Rossi, Bishop of San Martín and Mario José Serra, Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires.

On 22 December 2005 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Bishop of Gualeguaychú. The solemn inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on 11 March 2006.

In the Argentine Episcopal Conference, he is President of the Episcopal Commission for Social Pastoral. He is committed to combating youth unemployment in Argentina. and the legality and justice for farm workers.
