Jorge Majfud

Jorge Majfud ( born September 10, 1969 in Tacuarembó, Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan writer living in the United States.

Life

Jorge Majfud studied architecture at the Universidad de la República in Montevideo. After completing his studies in 1996 he was a teacher of design. In 2003 he continued in this capacity in order to devote himself to literature. One of the themes of his works is the life and the lifestyle of Hispanics in the United States. In 2012 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the inclusion of pre-Columbian myths in Latin American literature of the 20th century. Currently he is a professor of Spanish at Jacksonville University.

Awards

  • Majfud came in 2001 in the final round of selection for the Literature Prize of the Institute Casa de las Américas in Havana.
