Jorge Oteiza

Jorge Oteiza Enbil ( born October 21, 1908 in Orio, Guipuzcoa Province, Spain; † 9 April 2003 in Donostia, Gipuzkoa) was a Basque sculptor, painter and author.

Life

Oteiza was born in 1908 in the province of Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country. He is considered one of the most prestigious Basque artists of the 20th century, and was a pioneer of abstract art in Spain. 1988 Oteiza received the Prince of Asturias Award in the category of art.
