Jörgen Mårtensson

Jörgen " Jögge " Mårtensson ( born December 4, 1959) is a former Swedish orienteers and athlete. Mårtensson 1991 and 1995 World Champion on the long distance classic in orienteering, winning 1981-1997 a total of ten medals at the World Orienteering Championships.

As Jörgen Mårtensson 1991 to win his first World Championship individual medal with gold over the long distance, he was almost 32 years old. But he was for ten years to advanced world leaders, what he was able to prove in 1982 with his victory at the Nordic Championships. The length of his career - 20 years was among the best in the world - is beispielslos. With ten medals at World Championships Mårtensson is one of the best orienteers of all time, but he has also frequently the podium often just missed. Eight times he came at the World Championships on places four to six, including twice with the squadron, with which he could never win a world title.
