Jose b. Judah

Rabbi Jose ben Judah (ben Ilai ) (also: Jose ben Judah ) ( he served in the 2nd century AD ) was a Tannait 4th generation, often in controversy with Rabbi ( Judah ha - Nasi = ).

His father is the famous Judah ben Ilai and be at the same time was also his teacher. Jose ben Judah was called for his piety and modesty Rabbi Katnutha ( " the last of the truly pious "). It occurs in 2 to 5 Mischnaordnung, otherwise only in the Tosefta to the first and sixth order.

The question whether Jose proselyte to have been, is discussed in the Hebrew historical literature and different answers ( seder hadoros per juchasin against contra ).

Jose ben Judah delivered to the people of faith to welcome the two " angels of the service" ( bSchabbat 119b ) on Friday night.
