Jose de Jesus

Jose "Ping" de Jesus is a Philippine economic managers and politicians.

Biography

After schooling, he studied Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University and acquired there in 1956 a Bachelor of Arts ( AB Economics). A later post-graduate studies in social psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University, he finished in 1966 with a Master of Arts (MA Social Psychology). In 1968, he joined another Postgradudiertenstudium in specialist Human Development ( Human Development ) from the University of Chicago.

During the term of President Corazon Aquino and the first year in office of President Fidel Ramos, he was between 1990 and 1993 Minister of Public Works and Highways ( Secretary of Public Works and Highways ). For his services he President Aquino in 1992 awarded the rank of Commander of the Legion of Honor Philippic.

Later he became business managers and including President of the toll highway system of Metro Manila (Manila North tollways Corp. ). For this function him the CEO (Communication Excellence in Organization) Ecxel Award was presented in 2005. In January 2009, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of the electricity undertaking Manila Electric Co. ( MERALCO ). He also was a member of the Trust Board (Board of Trustees ) of the Foundation ng mga Bayani Bantayog Foundation and the Benigno S. Aquino Foundation.

After the elections in the Philippines in 2010 Ping de Jesus was appointed on 30 June 2010 by President Benigno Aquino as Minister of Transport and Communications ( Secretary of Transportation & Communications ) in his cabinet. Previously it was believed that he would in turn Minister of Public Works and Highways.
