José Foralosso

José Foralosso SDB ( born March 15, 1938 in Cervarese Santa Croce, Padua, Italy Province; † 22 August, 2012 Marabá, Pará, Brazil) was Bishop of Marabá.

Life

José Foralosso joined the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco and studied philosophy at Brescia and Catholic Theology at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome. After a study of dogmatics he received his doctorate in moral theology. Foralosso received on December 22, 1966, ordained priest in Brazil Campo Grande.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 20 November 1991 as Bishop of Guiratinga in the state of Mato Grosso. The Archbishop of Cuiabá, Bonifácio Piccinini SDB, consecrated him on February 15 of next year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were Camillo Faresin SDB, Bishop Emeritus of Guiratinga, and Osório Willi Baldo Stoffel, OFM, Bishop of Rondonópolis. His motto Ut vitam habeant ( " That they may have life " ) is taken from the Gospel of John (John 10:10 EU).

On 12 January 2000 he was appointed to the southeast of the state of Pará Bishop of Marabá. His retirement request was on 25 April 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. granted. He died of a stroke.
