José Padilla (DJ)
José Padilla ( born December 4, 1955 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish DJ and producer of ambient music. He became famous for his work as a DJ in the Café del Mar in Ibiza.
Career
Padilla was born in Barcelona in 1975 and moved to Ibiza. Since the early 1980s played Jose clubs like Pacha, Space or Ku and in 1991 a resident DJ in the Café del Mar, Sant Antoni de Portmany on Ibiza. In 1994 he taught his first React compilation titled Café del Mar out. Meanwhile, it is a series of sixteen parts arisen since volume 5 ( Cinco ) ( 1998) at the newly founded Music Label Café del Mar Music. José Padilla was responsible for parts 1-6 with his selection as well as for the output for the twentieth birthday.
Even if Padilla's songs have appeared on various compilations, it took until 1998 before he brought out his first solo album souvenir. It was born from the collaboration with various musicians such as Lenny Ibizarre Chill Out and Paco Fernandez. His second album, Navigator 2001 received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental category.
José Padilla is no longer a resident DJ at Café del Mar, but leads worldwide tours through. 2010 appeared a new series of compilations, Bella Musica. In summer 2011, José Padilla put every Wednesday to sunset at the Hostal La Torre music.
