José Rafael Molina Ureña

José Rafael Molina Ureña ( born January 31, 1921 in San Francisco de Macoris, † 22 May 2000) was a Dominican politician and for two days President of the Dominican Republic.

Life

After studying Law and Doctor of Rechtswisschenschaften at the Universidad de Santo Domingo 1948, he worked as a lawyer and later completed postgraduate studies in business law and social sciences in France and Costa Rica.

His political career began as a member of the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano ( PRD), as its president was also a presidential candidate. Later he was Secretary General and President of the Partido Revolucionario Independiente (PRI ). During the presidency of Juan Bosch Gavino he was from February to September 1963 not only its vice-president, but as such also president of the Constituent Assembly Eden ( Asamblea Constituyente ) and the Chamber of Deputies ( Cámara de Deputies ).

When it came on April 24, 1965 a military revolt against, chaired by Donald Reid Cabral triumvirate to insert the legally elected President of Bosch and the 1963 Constitution again, followed the next day after a few hours of comprehensive transitional period of a Revolutionary Committee his sworn in as provisional president of the Dominican Republic. Two days later, however, followed the inauguration of Colonel Francisco Alberto Caamano as the new president, after Bosch had even a return of the Puerto Rican -exile and thereby waived to power.

During the presidency of Joaquín Balaguer, he was 1968-1971 Ambassador in Paris. Between 1980 and 1981 he was Chairman of the Advisory Council of Seguros ( JUCOSE ), the Administrator-General he was before. 1998 was granted to him by resolution of the National Congress a state pension.
