José Ramón Alexanko

José Ramón Alexanko Ventosa ( born May 5, 1956 in Barakaldo ) is a former Spanish footballer.

Career as a player

Alexanko began his football career at Llodio a small suburb Club of Bilbao. In 1974 he joined Athletic Bilbao and stayed for two years. In the 1976/77 season he made a trip to Deportivo Alaves to return it back to Bilbao. During his time in Bilbao, he came in 1977 to the Spanish Cup final and the final of the UEFA Cup in the same year, the Athletic losing to Juventus in the total score of 2-2 ( away goals ).

In 1980 it attracted the Basques to Catalonia for FC Barcelona. When Barça Alexanko had its most successful period. He won the Spanish Championship four times, four times the Spanish Cup and three Spanish Super Cup. At international level, he won the 1992 European Cup final of Champions prior to the introduction of the Champions League in the same year. In the final against Sampdoria Alexanko came on in the 113th minute for Josep Guardiola. The game ended 1-0 after extra time for Barça. He also won the 1982 and 1989 European Cup Winners' Cup, where he played in 1982 in the final. In 1992, the European Super Cup was not won.

International Alexanko played 34 times for Spain, scoring four goals. He participated in the European Football Championship in 1980 partly in Italy, where Spain was eliminated in the first round as a group last. He also participated in the Football World Cup 1982 in part in their own country, where the team was eliminated in the second group stage.

Alexanko played beyond a game for the Basque football team.

Career as a coach

After his playing career Alexanko went to Romania and FC Universitatea Craiova trained there and FC Naţional Bucharest.
