Josef Bergmaier

Josef Bergmaier (* March 5, 1909 Munich, † March 5, 1943 in Oryol, Russia ) was a German football player.

Bergmaier learned to play football in the 1888 TV Munich. Until 1929, he played for FC Wacker München. His most successful period he experienced from 1929 to 1938 with FC Bayern Munich.

In the final of the German Cup on June 12, 1932 against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Municipal stadium in Nuremberg Bergmaier was the outstanding player and prepared both goals before the 2-0 win for Bayern Munich.

He wore 1930-1933 eight times the jersey of the German national football team and scored one goal. The hit was scored in the first minute of the match against Norway on 21 June 1931 ( Full 2:2 ). He is the first German national team to have managed this.

Bergmaier fell in World War II during the same period and in the same place on the Eastern Front as his same age team-mate Franz Krumm.
