Josef Gusikov

Michael Joseph Gusikow (* 1806 in Schklou, † 1837 in Aachen ) was a virtuoso xylophone player and instrumentalist of Jewish origin, on his European concerts - enthusiastic professionals and the general public alike - he also played before the Emperor and Prince Metternich.

Already suffering from tuberculosis in his early youth, he died at the age of 31 during a concert in Aachen with the mallets in hand. He had never learned notes, playing mostly his own compositions.
