Josef Moser

Josef Moser ( born March 2, 1861 in Ried, † March 28 1944 in Zell at Zellhof ) was an Austrian priest and entomologist.

Life

Priest

After Kooperatorstellen in Gutau and crosses Moser was 1891-1935 pastor in cell at Zellhof, where he then lived until his death.

Entomologist

Even as Priesterseminarist Moser joined the club of Natural History in 1901, he joined the Upper Austrian Museum Association. In his spare time he built a collection of 35,310 beetles and butterflies to 13,269, " which represented the largest of its kind in the whole country and rare pieces from all five parts of the world contained ." After his death, consisting of 250 Download collection as well as the rich technical library Moser was acquired by the Upper Austrian Provincial Museum.

Josef Moser was first described some beetle species, such as Goliathus orientalis (1919), Chlorocala africana camerunica, Anisorrhina flavoplagiata (1919), Taurhina angolensis (1916 ), as well as some Pachnodaarten. Was named after him Rosenkäfer Heteropseudinca moseri Hauser, 1904. Besides his entomological activity Moser also collected other animals for the Museum Association.
