Josef Müller (footballer)

Josef Müller ( born May 8, 1893 in Würzburg, † March 22, 1984 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a German football player and coach.

Career

Josef Müller began his career with the Phoenix Ludwigshafen, where he played until 1921 and gained his first experience in the German national soccer team. He then moved to the then top team SpVgg Fürth and won with the Franks in 1926 as player-coach the German championship. From 1927 to 1932, he finally played for FV 04 Wurzburg, before he played until his retirement end of 1934 for Werder Bremen. In the National Team of the defender came to a total of 12 missions in the years from 1921 until 1928. The very fit model athlete was considered a gentleman defenseman with a good shot and a lot of tactical understanding.

After his playing career Müller worked as a trainer at numerous clubs, including 04 in FV Würzburg, Werder Bremen, FC St. Pauli, VfR Mannheim and from 1946 to 1947 with the Stuttgarter Kickers and from 1950 to 1952 at TuRa Ludwigshafen.
