Josef Umbach

Joseph Umbach ( born December 8, 1888 in München- Gladbach, † 30 September 1976) was a German football player.

Life and career

The Josef already in use as a teenager in the first team of FC München- Gladbach Umbach came in 1908 for the first time with his team in the final of the West German championship. On April 12, 1908 lost München -Gladbach in Kleve with 0:5 goals against the Duisburg SpV. In the 1908/09 season FC but the final with 3:2 goals won after extra time against Prussia Duisburg and could therefore participate in the final round of the German soccer championship 1909. On May 2, 1909, in Duisburg South German representatives Phoenix Karlsruhe opponent. The striker of the 1st FC Mönchengladbach was appointed for the international match on 16 October 1910 against the Netherlands in the national team. The game in Kleve went narrowly lost 1-2. Umbach himself could not distinguish himself as a scorer. He formed together with the left-winger Richard mercury the left wing.
