Josefine Lindstrand

Josefine Lindstrand ( born 1981 in Örebro ) is a Swedish singer who has emerged both in the field of jazz as well as the independent rock.

Life and work

Lindstrand began with 16 years with a vocal and instrumental education (piano and saxophone) and was soon working with a big band. In 2002 she participated in the concert tour of the European Jazz Youth Orchestra conducted by Django Bates in part, with whom she also later worked several times, including on European tours with his band Human Chain as well as in several concerts with the UMO Jazz Orchestra. Also, she led a quartet with David Dorůžka.

She studied at Rytmisk Music in Copenhagen and worked in Scandinavia with various groups, such as the Danish indie rock band Efterklang and with Maia Hirasawa and Veronica Maggio. Their debut album There Will Be Stars in 2009 was awarded as the best Swedish jazz album. In the same year she went with her own band in Europe and 2010 in China on tour.
