Josep Tapiró Baró

Josep Baró i TAPIRO ( born February 7, 1836 in Reus, Catalonia, † October 4, 1913 in Tangier, Morocco) was a Catalan painter and watercolorist.

Life

He was trained in Reus with the painter Doménec Soberano and then went to Rome. He returned to Spain and then found after a trip to Tangier, which he made together with his friend, the painter Fortuny i Marsal Marià, his true calling. He turned to the Maghreb. He moved to Tangier, where he lived until his death.

The world of the Orient, he encountered in Morocco, he presented with great precision in his watercolors and paintings dar. He is counted among the Orientalists in painting.

Two of his watercolors with depictions of characters from Tangier were seen in Barcelona in 2009 and 2010 in the exhibition Convidats d' Honor at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya ( National Museum of Catalan Art ' ).

Honors

The high school of his native town wearing today (2012 ) his name, IES Josep TAPIRO.
