Joseph Barth

Joseph Barth ( * October 28, 1746 [ date of birth in some sources (October 18 ) 1745 ] in Valletta, Malta, † April 7, 1818 in Vienna ) was an Austrian physician.

Barth was professor of anatomy and ophthalmology at the University of Vienna. In 1776 he became emperor 's personal physician. He founded a private eye clinic and led by about 3,000 cataract operations. Johann Adam Schmidt and Georg Joseph Beer were his pupils.
