The University Joseph Fourier Grenoble I ( UJF ), ( French: Université Joseph Fourier de Grenoble I) is a university in Grenoble (France). It is one of three universities that were founded in 1970 in Grenoble, to replace the old one, which was founded in 1339 university. The Joseph Fourier University offers 15 institutions ( departments) degree programs in the natural sciences, technology and medicine, and has a branch office in Valence.

The university carries since 1987 the name of the mathematician Joseph Fourier, who as prefect of the department of Isère established the Natural Sciences in 1811.

Rankings and internationality

After appearing in 2009, Shanghai University Ranking the UJF is the sixth best university in France. Furthermore, it takes in comparison to the French universities to fourth place in the category "Engineering and Information Technology " field. Global here she is on place 131 of the QS World University rankings.

Also, due to the good ranking courses and the courses offered, which includes courses in English, the UJF is a port of call for foreign students. Approximately 2,300 foreign students attended one of the 350 exchanges, approximately 650 went abroad.
