Joseph Franz Kaiser

Franz Joseph Kaiser ( born March 11, 1786 in Graz, † September 19, 1859 ) was an Austrian Buchbinder, lithographer, publisher and officer.

Life

Franz Joseph was the first son, the Graz citizen and bookbinder Johann Michael Kaiser and his wife Johanna, born Brugg Mayer, on the world. After school, Franz Joseph followed his father professionally and also learned the bookbinding craft. He then went surely to the usual journeyman wanderings, gained professional experience and came up with the first lithographic products in contact.

In 1806 he is mentioned as a member of civil cavalry of the citizens of Graz militia and developed when in 1808 the militia, he rose as a capable soldier on in the leadership circle. Already on 29 March 1809 he was promoted to ensign. As a member of the 2nd Graz Landwehr Battalion and commander of the 6th Company, Emperor on June 14, 1809 under the command of Archduke Johann of Austria at the Battle of Raab part.

On March 29 of the year 1810 Emperor could acquire the prescribed area for the city of Graz Buchbinder prerogatives and afterwards set up far from the Murtores own bookbinding operation. Considering his achievements in the cavalry of the citizens of Graz Corps and as an ambitious craftsman he was inducted into the Graz citizenship on July 12, 1814. On 27 October the same year he married the 22 - year-old Maria Anna Ehmeyer in Graz Andrae Church. From this marriage six children were born, including the two well-known landscape painter and lithographer Alexander and Eduard Kaiser.

Kaiser was very imaginative as a businessman. Soon he was trying to increase the income and expand its operations through the sale of stationery, paper and various printing units. Already in 1814 he is therefore alleged to have exceeded its powers by the trade publication of calendars and the provision of maps.
